Norfolk Superheroes Raise £x

Norfolk Superhero Challenge raises £X to help children get active in Norfolk

Last Saturday, Burnham Overy Staithe in North Norfolk played host to the one and only Norfolk Superhero Challenge! The electric atmosphere and community spirit of the 120 determined teams was matched only by their mammoth fundraising effort, raising an incredible £[insert amount] to help children across Norfolk get active.

We’re so grateful for every single one of the competitors who gave it their all on the course, and to the 160 incredible Pink Lady volunteers who supported the event with their tireless enthusiasm. From start to finish, this truly was a celebration of teamwork, endurance and community, all in aid of a vital cause.

Young people are set to benefit from the funding, helping them access sports and outdoor opportunities

The Norfolk Superhero Challenge is more than just a one-day event. It’s part of an ambitious three-year partnership with Norfolk Community Foundation, dedicated to transforming the lives of local children and young people. Through this collaboration, we are laying the foundations for A Better Childhood, a core mission of the Foundation that ensures children across Norfolk have the opportunities they need to grow, thrive and succeed.

One of the biggest barriers many young people face today is access to sport, outdoor activities and active hobbies. These aren’t pastimes but powerful tools to boost physical and mental wellbeing, grow confidence, and teach lifelong skills. Thanks to the amazing support shown during this year’s Challenge, we’re one step closer to ensuring that every child, regardless of background or circumstances, can access these opportunities.

Money raised by competitors will form a new fund, the Norfolk Superhero Challenge Fund, which will go directly towards local projects that give children and young people across Norfolk the chance to get moving. Whether it’s through grassroots sports clubs, nature-based adventures, or new and exciting physical challenges, these opportunities will spark joy, confidence, and – crucially – improve health.

We’re also committed to building on what we’ve achieved together. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be working with an expert panel, which will include some of the Superhero competitors and Pink Lady volunteers to shape and refine the funding offer. Their insights and experiences will help us ensure the grants awarded go exactly where they’re needed most.

Next steps:

  • Call for applications is now open and will close on 17th July
  • The Norfolk Community Foundation team will then begin reviewing applications
  • An expert panel, drawn from this year’s Superhero Challenge participants and volunteers, will help us select the most impactful projects later this year
  • Grants will be awarded in October, supporting local initiatives that help children lead active, healthier lives

We are so proud of what we’ve already achieved together — and even more excited for what’s to come. To everyone who ran, swam, cycled, paddled, cheered, or volunteered: thank you. You are helping to create a stronger, healthier Norfolk — one superhero step at a time.
