Thetford Shines Brighter is a new initiative led by local people to make a difference to those who live and work in the town.
Thetford people have come together to create a pot of money to help great community projects get off the ground, and start changing local lives.
If you have a great idea to help Thetford shine brighter, by test driving a new idea, filling a gap or meeting a need, we want to hear from you!
After talking to a range of local people, charities, services, businesses and schools, it was agreed that the first area for action is increasing support and opportunities for young people.
Grants of up to £1,000 are available to kickstart new community projects, pilot new ideas or new ways of working, to help Thetford’s children and young people fulfil their potential.
Proposals may include action on:
- Poverty and disadvantage
- Mental health
- Providing positive youth activities
Who can apply
We are particularly interested to hear ideas from groups working in the Thetford area, though groups working elsewhere that can show a strong understanding of local issues and needs can also apply.
Typically, we can offer grants to community organisations with a constitution, but if you are not yet at that stage, we may be able to match you with a local partner organisation to get your idea off the ground.
Unfortunately we cannot support individuals from this fund.
The fund cannot support ongoing operational costs for existing projects – but we will be happy to advise on alternative sources of support.
How to apply
Complete the simple proposal form linked on the right of your screen and email or post back to us.
All forms received will be reviewed by a panel of Thetford people working in health, employment, education, housing and police.
If your proposal is shortlisted, you will be invited to work with us to develop your idea.
