Double your donation with Matched for Change this Giving Tuesday.
Giving Tuesday is right around the corner, and here in Norfolk it is becoming one of the most important days of the year for generosity. But what exactly is it, and how can local businesses take part in a way that creates the biggest possible impact?
What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that takes place on the first Tuesday after Black Friday. It is a moment for people and organisations to pause the rush of Christmas shopping and instead focus on kindness, community and positive change. Whether it is through donating, volunteering or fundraising, Giving Tuesday is all about doing good.
Giving Tuesday is on 2nd Deember this year – how will you get involved?
Across Norfolk, winter brings real challenges for many families. Rising costs, food insecurity and isolation all put pressure on people who are already struggling. Which is why this Giving Tuesday, 2nd December, your support matters more than ever.
Norfolk Community Foundation’s Matched for Change appeal gives local people and businesses the chance to make twice the difference this Christmas. Every £1 you give will unlock another £1 from our £50,000 match fund, doubling your impact for the people who need it most.
Some examples of what doubling your donation can do…
- £10 becomes £20, buying 3 baskets of food at a Nourishing Norfolk Food Hub.
- £100 becomes £200, heating a community centre for two weeks.
- £400 becomes £800, preventing one person from going homeless.
Why this year is especially powerful for businesses
Norfolk Community Foundation’s Matched for Change appeal gives local businesses a unique opportunity to make their generosity go twice as far. Every pound donated is matched pound for pound, unlocking our £50,000 match fund and doubling the support available for communities across the county.
This means that any Giving Tuesday action your company takes has double the impact, making it one of the most effective moments of the year to give.
Here are a few ways businesses can get involved.
1. Swap corporate Christmas cards or gifts for a matched donation
Instead of sending traditional cards or gifts this year, businesses can make a donation on behalf of clients or customers. With match funding applied, your gift will have twice the power to support local families – an even more powerful message to your customers!
2. Motivate your staff to make a difference together
Giving Tuesday is also a great opportunity to bring teams together around a shared purpose. Staff fundraising, office bake sales, festive dress days, or Giving Tuesday donation drives can all be turned into matched contributions, unlocking more support for Norfolk communities. It is a brilliant way to boost morale and celebrate doing good together.
3. Engage customers in your Giving Tuesday story
Businesses can also encourage customers to join them. Whether you use social media, email newsletters or in-store materials, inviting your customers to support Matched for Change gives them an easy way to participate in Giving Tuesday, knowing their donation will be doubled.
