SPACE Youth Fund

The Supporting Positive Activity and Community Engagement (SPACE) Youth Fund aims to increase the numbers of young people (primarily aged 13-15) engaging with positive youth activities in Norfolk.

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is keen to understand if there is a link between increasing engagement with those children and young people who do not readily engage with positive youth activities, and a reduction in low-level antisocial behaviour in localised areas.

Members of the Sir Norman Lamb Coalition for Young People can apply for grants of up to £30,000 over two years, to reach out to young people who do not readily engage with regular youth groups and activities. The Fund is keen to support existing models of open-access youth groups, outreach work, as well as detached youth work in local communities, to increase participation from the 13-15 age group.

We are pleased to partner with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, Norfolk County Council, and the Norfolk Youth Advisory Boards in delivering this funding opportunity.

About the Fund

Grants of up to £30,000 over two years can be applied for. Applicants can apply now for funding covering both years. c.£175,000 is available, and it is anticipated this will be awarded as two-year grants to five to six organisations.

  • You have experience of reaching young people who do not readily engage with positive activities and may be at risk of engaging in anti-social behaviour
  • You have existing links in your local community – e.g. with police, schools, local councils, family support workers or other community networks – that support you to understand the needs in your area
  • You involve young people’s views in the development of your activities
  • You will be able to feedback on your learnings from this funded piece of work

  • You can demonstrate a clear plan to reach young people who may be at risk of engaging in anti-social behaviour, and increase their engagement with your services
  • You already have a successful model for engaging new young people, and would like to build capacity in your regular activities that they can connect to
  • Or, you would like to build capacity in your detached youth work, or in your model for outreach, to connect new young people to your regular activities
