Thetford Shines Brighter
Making Thetford an even greater place to live and work.
Launched in October 2019, Thetford Shines Brighter is an initiative led by local people and facilitated by Norfolk Community Foundation to make a difference to those who live and work in the town. Thetford people have come together to create a pot of money to help great community projects get off the ground, and start changing local lives.
The launch of the Fund brought together local leaders passionate about supporting the local community to make a difference and followed research into the key issues facing Thetford communities and where there are currently gaps in local support. Those consulted included representatives from local charities and community groups, local councils, housing associations, police, health services, and local residents via a street questionnaire. Bringing together a wide range of voices ensures a strong community response so that support will be targeted where the need is greatest in Thetford.

Making a difference in Thetford
From providing direct support to survivors of sexual abuse to support for local job club members and their search for employment through the purchase of vital IT equipment, and the creation of a weekly after school club at the Charles Burrell Centre in partnership with nearby schools, the Thetford Shines Brighter Fund is working hard to make Thetford an even greater place to live and work.

How you can help
We know that small and local charities and voluntary organisations are the glue that holds communities together and Thetford is unique in that is has a higher than average number of people who donate their time. Through extensive research within the town and surveying local residents, the Thetford Shines Brighter Fund is built and led by the community, with funds directed to where they are needed most.
