Great Yarmouth Community Investment Fund

Grants of up to £5,000 are available for Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations which are clearly operating within the borough of Great Yarmouth, running projects which benefit Great Yarmouth residents.

The Great Yarmouth Community Investment Fund has been made possible by Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Norfolk County Council Public Health via the Great Yarmouth Health and Wellbeing Partnership, and other local funders who wish to make a difference in Great Yarmouth.

In 2026, the Great Yarmouth Community Investment Fund is offering two distinct funding streams, informed by local priorities:

Projects seeking to reduce isolation and loneliness and improve connection and opportunities through community activity by:
  • Promoting meaningful and impactful volunteering. Funding can support volunteer expenses, staff resource for volunteer management and recruitment, thank-you events, and upskilling of volunteers through professional development or volunteer sharing.
  • Increasing resilience and providing safe youth spaces for young people. Funding can support projects designed by and for young people that support the development skills and resilience, such as peer mentoring, and provide safe youth spaces for children aged 11-18, particularly in geographical areas where youth opportunities are limited.
  • Enabling intergenerational skills sharing opportunities. Funding can support projects that bring people of different ages together for skills-sharing initiatives such as life skills, cooking, or digital skills.
  • Running community spaces in rural areas that provide opportunities for connection. Funding can support project costs or costs relating to the ongoing development needs of your organisation.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to join the Great Yarmouth Community Hub Partnership for collaboration opportunities and access to a shared case management system.

If you would like to apply to both funding streams, please get in touch with us before applying.

Projects seeking to address health inequalities and improve wellbeing by encouraging healthier lifestyles, supporting physical and mental health, and strengthening community support. Projects should align with one or more of the priorities of the Great Yarmouth Health and Wellbeing Partnership:
  • Healthy eating and weight management. For example, supporting low-income families to learn how to prepare healthy, affordable meals.
  • Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. For example, adding a seated exercise session to an existing coffee morning to support people living with pain or mobility challenges.
  • Reducing smoking and alcohol use. For example, community arts initiatives which offer a place to creatively explore alcohol education.
  • Wider health and wellbeing and health literacy. For example, trialling an inclusive dance workshop with access to health information to encourage physical activity and health literacy, or delivering activities linked to national or local health campaigns to reach underserved communities – such as Ready to Change, Men’s Health Week, Dry January, Mental Health Awareness Week or National Walking Month.

Funding can support a range of community-based activities delivering early intervention and prevention. This can be an existing project or piloting a small-scale idea to address local health and wellbeing needs and strengthen community participation.

This funding might be right for you if:

  • You are a registered charity, constituted community group or other charitable organisation (including Social Enterprises and CICs limited by guarantee) with a track record of delivering relevant support within the Borough of Great Yarmouth. All applicants to the fund should check that they meet Norfolk Community Foundation’s general eligibility criteria before starting an application.
  • You are working in partnership with or have existing signposting relationships with other local organisations.
  • Your organisation is filling a gap in provision in the Borough of Great Yarmouth.
  • You would be able to record and report on participation data, including (where possible) the postcodes of people accessing your funded project, to Great Yarmouth Borough Council – all data shared would be anonymous, and will help Great Yarmouth Borough Council to understand the reach of funded activities.

This funding might not be right for you if:

  • Your project does not address one of the fund priorities outlined above.
  • Your project is a capital (building) project, including kitchen/toilet and other refurbishments.
  • Your organisation does not have an existing track record of delivering relevant support in the Borough of Great Yarmouth.
