Become a trustee of a local organisation
Many local charities and community groups in Norfolk are looking for people with time, experience and a desire to give back.
As a trustee, you help guide a charity so it can do its best for the people it supports. You do not need previous trustee experience. What matters is your judgement, life experience and willingness to get involved.

Trustees play a key role in helping local organisations make good decisions and plan for the future.
What is involved?
Trustees work together to guide a charity’s direction, make decisions and ensure it is well run.
Most trustee roles involve a small, regular commitment. Typically, boards meet 4 to 6 times a year, along with some light preparation and occasional support between meetings.

This explains what trustees do and the responsibilities involved in clear, practical terms. Trustees have overall responsibility for making sure a charity is doing what it was set up to do and acting in the public benefit.
Who we are looking for
We welcome interest from people who:
- Have professional or life experience to share
- Can give a small amount of time each month
- Are interested in supporting a local cause
- Are open to learning and working with others
You might have experience in areas such as finance, governance, planning, fundraising, communications or community work. But this is not essential.
