21st King's Lynn Scout Group
Scouts, cubs & beavers camping in West Norfolk
The 21st King’s Lynn Scout group comprises 3 sections: beavers aged 6-8 years, cubs aged 8-10 years and scouts aged 10-14 years, plus explorer scouts (14-18 years) who assist with running the younger sections. The group meets at the London Road Methodist Church in King's Lynn, and includes members from a wide area.
5 years ago the group's equipment store was vandalised and property was stolen, leaving them short of equipment to enable all the members to take an active part in camping and outdoor activities. Only 35 of the 50 scouts could go camping at any one time. The group requested support from Norfolk Community Foundation to purchase tents, gas fridge, camping cooker, benches and tables. Several small grants were awarded, from Grassroots Grants, Mars in the Community and Freebridge Community Housing fund.
The equipment purchased was used at the annual North West Norfolk District Scout Camp, held in May, where all the scouts in the district come together. Over 50 members attended, with support from adult leaders, volunteers and parent helpers.
