Lovewell Blake Fund

Chartered accountants at Lovewell Blake set a challenge in 2008 to raise £150,000 for local good causes to commemorate its 150th anniversary. Through the challenge they have now raised more than £100,000 with 60 charities and community groups already benefiting.

A target of £30,000 a year over five years was set for the Lovewell Blake 150 Challenge and the fund raising reached the half-way mark ahead of expectations thanks to the generosity of staff through payroll giving, sponsored activities and support from the firm's partners. More than 25 per cent of staff contribute through the Give As You Earn Scheme - a level of support that has also earned the firm the top Gold Quality Mark from the Charities Aid Foundation.

Sponsored activities have included tandem parachute skydiving, the Three Peaks challenge, 350-mile cycle ride and Caister on-Sea golf day, and monthly 'dress down' days are held.

All the money is channelled through the Norfolk Community Foundation and a panel of Lovewell Blake staff decides to whom the donations, which can range from £100 through to £2,000, should be given.

"Our staff have responded magnificently to the challenge. Congratulations to them on their innovative and highly successful fund-raising achievements."

The Fund aims to benefit smaller, often lesser known organisations where such grants would make a real difference to a particular project - making possible something that wouldn't otherwise happen.

The Lovewell Blake Fund supports community and voluntary activity in Norfolk and the areas of Suffolk surrounding Lowestoft and Halesworth. Grants of up to £2,000 are made twice per year in March and October.

9 March 2012
